Where do they get all that energy!!! Understanding the difference between the nutritional needs of SUPER KIDS vs. SUPER MOMS

Taking kids to a playground, and watching them jumping, climbing, dancing, yelling, singing and so much more… makes me astonished on how much energy they have!

Where is it all coming from?

I try to play with the kids as much as I can “physically”… but have you tried jumping on a trampoline … even with the fact that I am going to the gym and keeping a healthy and active lifestyle… they can always out jump me and keep on wanting more.

We all know that energy comes from the food we eat. Food contains nutrients which produce energy to help the body repair and grow.

But it’s not the quantity of the food but actually the quality… which makes sense considering that little kids have much smaller stomachs so we really need to make sure every spoon counts!

Giving children the exact nutrition they need is not easy.

Too much PROTEIN intake can lead to obesity & overweight problems later in life. Protein is found in meats, fish, egg, cereals and legumes, etc..

It’s important that your child consumes every day fish or meat or eggs to satisfy their daily Protein intake, but in quantities that are adequate to prevent any nutritional imbalances.

Children need half the amount of Proteins that we as adults need.

Not enough IRON leads to IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA.

Iron plays an important role in muscle function, energy creation, and brain development. As a result, a child with iron deficiency may have learning and behavioral problems.

This is why it’s important to ensure they consume enough Iron to fulfill their needs.

A child needs twice the amount of Iron than an adult needs. 

So it’s all about balance and choosing the right food and right amounts.

As they grow older controlling the exact amounts of food and nutrients they eat is not very simple.

But knowing the right mix and being aware of their needs at each stage in their growth is the most important step.

We may not be able to follow the below recommendation to the exact point – but having an idea of what their body needs can give you a guideline when preparing their meal plans and monitoring what they eat:
